I don't find that the author is "snobbish", like I have read in other reviews, but simply appreciate how a small gesture can affect another. I also truly like how the author teaches that if you make a mistake while dining or while in a social setting - it isn't the end of the world. Say pardon me to no one in particular and go about your business. Not a single polite person would dare to make a scene regarding another's lack of dining etiquette or proper grammar but WOULD find rudeness and lack of general manners distasteful. We all like to be treated kindly and must also remember that different cultures have different beliefs in which mannerisms are acceptable and which are not. This book focuses on what is acceptable etiquette in America and touches on European "style" dining as well. The Complete Idiot's Guide to Etiquette
is simple to understand yet chock-full of basic lessons in etiquette while
offering enough information on more "advanced" situations so that anyone
can survive in any incident or obligation in the office or on the ballroom floor
- assuming you know how to dance.
