Colleen’s Lower Lid Blepharoplasty

I had another surgery scheduled for December 27th, 2001. I was having a Breast Augmentation. I had been bothered by the hereditary dark bags under my eyes, and I started thinking that I would save up the money, and maybe have enough in 5 years, since the surgery is not cheap. I then realized that the majority of the costs were from the hospital, and I started to wonder if I could save a few thousand dollars (in the long run) by combining my surgeries. I discussed this with my PS, and he had time on his schedule the day of my BA. Now, I had to go have some eye tests for glaucoma, visual acuity, and tear production. I passed all of them.

The day of surgery, I awoke with a horizontal stitch in each eye, and tape on the bridge of my nose and on each side of my eyes. I had two black and blue eyes, and I looked awful, but the truth is, it was a painless surgery. I have felt no pain from this at all. The tape was removed at 3 days, and the stitches at 1 week. I was not allowed to wear eye makeup for 1 month.  I noticed some firm scar tissue underneath the skin, so my PS gave me some silicone sheeting to wear at night. It has been reducing the firm tissue, but I still need to wear it, b/c I am only 7 weeks post op. The skin under my eyelashes is a little pink, still, but looks better every day. I am glad I had the surgery.
