RejuveSkin Treatment For
Cellulite
The RejuveSkin Treatment™ for
Cellulite Removal is the surgical means to remove the causes of
cellulite, the actual problematic fibrous septae. The fibrous septae which
are short, constrictive and cause your skin to dimple are removed to surgically
release the tissue to a normal contour.

UltraShape Nonsurgical
"Liposuction"
Liposuction is one
of the most popular procedures performed. Thousands of men and women
undergo liposuction every month to remove unwanted bulges and bags of pesky fat
pockets. However, the risks, downtime, costs and pain of recovery can
deter many individuals from improving their physiques. With the hope of
fat loss via pills or lotions, serums and potions, fat removal is becoming a big
business. What we need is a non-invasive, nonsurgical, less expensive method to
improve our thighs, abs and hips, not another cannula.
The UltraShape
Machine just might be our ticket to thinness. UltraShape was designed and
is manufactured by an American-owned, yet Israel-based company. These
Israeli surgeons have come up with a way to melt fat by using external high
frequency ultrasound paddles. The ultrasonic energy passes harmlessly
through your epidermis and dermis to rupture the fat cells beneath. So
what happens to this ruptured fat? It is removed by your body, naturally,
and so far without risk. The company insists that fat cell destruction is
possible without harm to the under and overlying muscles or other tissues.
BUT, the machine has yet to be tested officially on human beings. Pigs are
getting skinnier in Israel as these porcine patients undergo frequent treatments
while maintaining a normal diet. Some are even being fed more to study the
effects of obesity and adipose tissue in conjunction with the UltraShape
machine.
So how much can be
removed? It is said up to an 1/8 to a 1/4 of an inch in the treatment area
- less than what can be achieved with standard liposuction. However, there
is reportedly no pain, no bruising, no bleeding, no risk of infection and you
can return in 3 weeks for more.

Collagenase
Chemical "Liposuction"
New York plastic surgeon, Zachary
Gerut, MD was testing his theory regarding scar tissue eradication with the
proteolytic enzyme, collagenase. Collagenase is a naturally
occurring substance on the body which can eradicate collagen [:of
a group of proteolytic enzymes that decompose collagen and gelatin -
Merriam-Webster]. Lo and behold he noticed that the fatty tissue at the
injection sites in lab animals were subsequently "destroyed" and
absorbed.
Dr. Gerut got to thinking and of
course there is a big market for fat removal - over 800,000 people each year are
sucking out their fat cells through invasive suction-assistant lipectomy
procedures (aka liposuction) The FDA has given the okay for testing in
human lipomas (fatty tumors). Therefore testing on fat pockets will more
than likely be tested as well as performed "off-label" if the approval
goes through for the tumors.
My concerns? What is the level of
control over the amount of fatty tissue which is obliterated? What stops the
enzyme from "Eating:" too much fat. Is there a such thing???
YES! Fat loss may be an issue, hence the clinicals.
Only time will tell.
APTOS Threads/Lift
- Also Known as the Feather Lift
Considered less
invasive, this procedure was invented in 1999 by Russian cosmetic surgeon, Dr.
Marlen Sulamanidze. The procedure utilizes sterile blue, polypropylene,
cogged thread (suture) material threaded throughout the face in specific
application methods. The threads run along certain lines to anchor
themselves into the tissue. The lifting effect is at its peak several
months later when the collagen has formed around the threads. Some
surgeons have described it as more of a bunching result than a lifting
effect. This is still a relatively new procedure and the long term effects
are unknown. Reportedly they can be removed. Some patients have
reported visible bluing of the skin where the APTOS thread has been
implanted superficially. I have had my cheeks done and do not find this to
be the case. Some have reported blue pimples which are actually the ends of the
thread poking through the original puncture/insertion mark. I did have
extrusion but it was no problem one it was corrected. As with all surgery,
asymmetry is possible, as well.

Lift Section for more information.
Stereolithography
& Facial Implants
Stereolithography
(also known as SOL/SAL/SL) is the process of creating three dimensional (3-D),
1:1 sculptures using a combination of Computer Tomography (CT) scans, LASERS and
a photo-sensitive liquid resin. After these sculptures are made implants can be
cast to fit the patient exactly. With tissue measurements and age projection -
technicians can even project through In clinical applications, Stereolithography
is used mainly for craniomaxillofacial surgery for patients in need of
reconstruction. Custom implants and titanium plates can be made to reconstruct
or fortify bone damage, loss or absence due to trauma, bone degenerative disease
or congenital deformities.
Stereolithography can also be used for spot-on custom fit implants in any
cosmetic or reconstructive procedure if you are willing to fork over the money
for a 1:1 scale of your own skull or relative body part. Additional costs
can tally up to $1,300. Please check back soon for more information on this
prototyping process in clinical use.
Aquamid, Argiform,
BioAlcamid, Formacryl, BioFormacryl - Polyacrylamide Injectable Implants
Technically an injectable
for of Hydrophilic polyacrylamide gel (HPG) with 0.04% to 0.03% residual
unpolymerized acrylamide. Also known as "acrylic hydrogel"
or "Hydrogel" in Europe. Although these products are not
available in the U.S. they may one day be. This product has been used for
drug delivery in injections, water treatment, agriculture and more. These
products are usually considered a semi-permanent solution to soft tissue
augmentation. Semi-permanent in a sense that it was permanent, yet reversible.
Unlike all of the other injectables, this one stays soft. After it is
injected and after the water is absorbed by the body, the HPG remains pliable
and plump like your own tissue, not hard like collagen or firm like Artecoll or
any of the others. The hydrophilic polyacrylamide retains fluid -- so your own
fluids keep it plump. They usually contain between 2.5% of polyacrylamide
and 97.5% of water and 3 % polyacrylamide and 97% water. They are considered to
be homogeneous. They are nonallergic, do not create a considerable inflammatory
response unless an infection is present and is reportedly removable. The
implants have a high molecular weight which prohibits migration such as seen in
viscous silicone oils like Silikon 1000 or Adatosil 5000. There is also no
need or a pre-test as with collagen or Artecoll injections.
