Greetings,
Words cannot express the pain, sorrow and anger we have felt this past
week. I couldn't even bring myself to finish writing a statement or send
out this newsletter in regard to September 11, 2001. As the world
attended Candle Light Vigils, gave blood and made donations it all
seemed as if it wasn't enough. How could it be? We all felt vulnerable
and were in absolute shock as we sat there staring at the horrific live
newsfeed of devastation.
I know we are all healing in our own ways and my heart goes out to those
who lost a loved one or friend in the devastation that hit our country,
and the world, so severely. We will never be the same but we will go on.
We won't lie down and give up. Humanity has come together in a way that
is unprecedented. I cannot convey the utter appreciation I have that the
world united in sorrow and in defiance - that this was not only an
attack on America but on the Free World. All of the world came together
and shared our tears. I hope this finds everyone as well as can be -
under the circumstances.
On a lighter note, this newsletter is long overdue. It's back to school
time - which means less time for many of us. Make sure that you don't
neglect your skin care, nutrition or relaxation time. Whether you are
settling in for another semester yourself, or bringing the kids to
school - don't forget YOU. "If Mamma (or papa) "ain't"
happy, "ain't" noooobody happy!". I have also included
site news and a few welcomes!

Week
Two of the "Best Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons" Book
Review
As some of you may know I started reviewing a book called "The Best
Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons" last week. If you did not
receive our newsletter last week the reason I am doing this is because
many of our visitors have asked me both through emails and through our
message boards regarding this book. I decided to get it and share with
you some of its contents. I asked for permission first, out of respect,
and so I wouldn't get in trouble so we were granted permission to
divulge a few pages each week! I will be scanning new pages every week
just so you may see what it looks like and to get a glimpse of the
featured surgeons. Just remember that this is a book review and not the
opinion of YTF! or Enhancement Media.
This Week's Winner of "The Best Plastic & Reconstructive
Surgeons" Book Drawing
Congratulations to "Marcia"! Marcia was last week's winner of
our free book give away! For those of you who haven't entered you better
do it now!! For those of you who already have entered, there is no need
to reenter as your entry remains for each subsequent drawing.

Tips For Choosing A Good Micropigmentation (Permanent Make-up)
Artist/Technician
Brought to you by a friend of mine, Cheryl Steinberg with Permanent
Make-up of Atlanta, who happens to be the first licensed Permanent
Cosmetic Tattoo Artist:
Permanent Makeup can be a beautiful enhancement if done properly. The
question we all ask is "How do we find a good technician?" It
is not easy but here are a few tips:
1. Make sure they are properly licensed. If not, in case of an accident
the insurance will not cover you. Also, the fact that they are properly
licensed shows that they have respect for the profession.
2. Ask if they are board certified by the American Academy of
Micropigmentation. That is the highest honor they can get, and it takes
a minimum of a year of hands on experience to even be eligible. In the
future, all states may require all permanent makeup technicians to be
board certified. The fact that they are board certified also shows a
seriousness for their profession, and that they are not fly by night.
Getting board certified is not cheap and is time consuming.
3. Are they a licensed Tattoo Artist? This shows that they have a tattoo
background and understand the fundamentals of tattooing.
4. Are they insured? Ninety-nine out of a hundred times you will be
fine, but check it out. At least make sure you are insured in case of an
allergic reaction.
5. Do they have a contact that is a Doctor who handles emergencies
allergic reactions, pigment removal...
6. Check out their portfolio. Look at the pictures and look at actual
people they have done. Does the makeup look like something you would
like on yourself.
7. How is your technicians makeup? If her makeup isn't flawless why
would yours be?
8. Check out their facility. Is it in their living room or kitchen table
or is it located at a clean and sanitary environment.
9. What type of machine do they use? Rotary machines are limited in
needle selection and unless they are extremely experienced the work can
be less then desirable.
10. What is their education? Do they have adequate education or have
they attended a home course or 2 day course?
11. Do they use a standard Tattoo Machine? Those are usually the best.
Who taught them. How long have they used the machine? Do they use
different shading needles for the lips? Do they have a disposable
needles and tubes?
12. What is their pain management? They should use a topical before and
during, The most popular is DOC C before and TAG during.
13. Have they had experience as a makeup artist. Many technicians have
no makeup background and you will see lots of MIS lined lips, badly
shaped brows. Look again at their pictures for color, but pictures can
be altered so look at actual people of possible.
|
14. Ask if they do corrective procedures.
Some don't because of liability, but most good technicians do. Look at
their correction.
Hopefully this will help. Feel free to look at my web site, it has lots
of information. Also, I am available by email to talk. I am here to
help. My Web Site is www.permanentmakeupofatlanta.com my email is

Check out the AAM directory for a list of technicians in your
state.
Thanks and good hunting! ~ Cheryl

Calling All People In "The Zone"!
Are you familiar with Dr. Sear's 'way of life' book series, "Enter
The Zone"? Seems I am just starting this and personally this
40/30/30 % is confusing me. I am determined to get it through it though!
It started from a friend of mine suggesting it and now here I am trying
to determine my allowances per meal and snack. Worst of all in order to
do this I need to WEIGH MYSELF!! AAGGH!!! I don't even know how much I
weigh much less own a scale. I even have to take measurements. Why can't
we all just effortlessly lose or gain weight and retain that *perfect*
body?? If you or anyone you know has experience in this, both
meat-eaters and veggies, I am interested in your input. :)
Formacryl Hydrophilic Polyacrylamide for Tissue Augmentation, Again!
Some of you may remember me talking about injectable Formacryl. If not,
it is an injectable micro-implant that augments the tissues -
permanently. I am very interested in it and have been for almost two
years now. I keep following its progress, its scandals and interviewing
the companies but still no sight of it in the U.S. I am a little
skeptical still considering the acrylamide that it takes to make the
polyacrylamide. So I am still researching it even though my friend in
Italy has had it in her lips for OVER 2 years! :) She says it feels just
like flesh - nothing more.
Here is some more info...
Formacryl® aka BIOFORMACRYL®: (technically: injectable Hydrophilic
polyacrylamide gel (PAM)) A Class IIb Medical Device brought to you by
Progen. Although Formacryl® is not available in the U.S. I am very
interested in this product. This injectable is available in Europe,
Russia, Brazil, etc. and shows very promising results as a
semi-permanent solution to augmentation. Semi-permanent being that it is
permanent, yet reversible. Formacryl® is polyacrylamide (5%), a
synthetic polymer, suspended within apyrogenous water (95%). Unlike all
of the other injectables, this one stays soft. After it is injected and
after the water is absorbed by the body, the HPG remains pliable and
plump like your own tissue, not hard like collagen or firm like Artecoll
or any of the others.
The company claims, "The very special, cutting-edge production
technique – an exclusive patented process, employed for this product
– guarantees (unlike numerous other similar products) the absence of
the toxic monomer that usually characterizes these polymers – and
which is responsible for all the well known devastating secondary
effects." They also claim, "...Analyses demonstrate that
Formacryl® is: non toxic, non-sensitizing, non-mutagenic,
biocompatible, permanent, removable, and physically and chemically
stable." Their claim of the product being absolutely radio
transparent is a wonderful extra benefit. Also, the particle size is
just large enough that it will not migrate or worse, be absorbed by a
cell, thereby killing it. Nor is it able to be absorbed and stored
within the lymph nodes.
Allergy Test: Not necessary
Longevity: Unknown
Cost: Unknown
Update! 03/17/01: Andrey Korneev (JSC " Research Center
"Bioform" - producer of Formacryl) sent me the below
information regarding Formacryl and I will be sending him an
email-interview regarding pricing, countries that this product will be
available in, photo accessibility, etc.
